Three sets of sisters net District14-1A titles

In District 14-1A at Synergy Tennis Academy in Tamarac, University School girls were first, and the South Florida HEAT was runner-up, advancing to its first regional in just two seasons.

Unprecedented, three sets of sisters won district titles with the Giachettis from South Florida HEAT, newcomers to the scene, being one of them.

After losing the first set, the Giachetti sisters (Gabriela and Daniela) won districts at No.2 doubles in dramatic fashion on a third set tiebreaker. Gabriela, a freshman, was a semifinalist at No.2 singles, and Daniela, a seventh grader, was a finalist at No.3. Teammate Elyse Lavender, a sixth grader, was a semifinalist at No.1 singles.

Congratulations to Gabby & Dani for becoming # 2 Doubles Team District Champions!!!
After losing the first set, the girls fought back to win in a 3rd set tie breaker.

SF HEAT GIRLS TENNIS entered the District Tournament with all 5 singles and both doubles teams as seeded positions. They were one of only two schools to achieve this within our District.

After Day 1, our girls played hard and did their best and were in 2nd Place. All 5 girls won their Quarterfinal matches and advanced to the Semi’s as did both our doubles teams. Daniela was able to come from behind to win a very tough semi final match up and has advanced to the finals.

Middle School News……
HEAT – 3 / CCA – 2
Very good game by both teams with CCA scoring 1st. We changed some positions around for this game to adjust for their speed and experience. Our 1st year keeper, Leanne did a great job as she received a lot of action today. CCA scored on corner with everyone bunched up in front of the keeper where she was not able to see the ball and the 2nd goal against us was a PK in which she dove for but it was placed perfectly out of reach. Our defense held them the rest of the game. Great hustle by Ally P. at defense in both yesterday and today’s games.
Our 3 goals were as follows:

Goal #3 – Tianna M. (assist by Becca C.)
Great job girls. I was very proud of today’s efforts out there!

Girls Soccer Update

Today we played FAU Henderson at their school. We dominated the entire game. I think our keeper only touched it two or three times at most. The field was HUGE and slanted so you could not see the other side and there was only one ref. The score should have been 4 to 0 but one of the goals by Bridgett C. was called back because the ref did not see that their keeper got the ball INSIDE the goal. Oh well.
The final score was HEAT – 3 / FAU Henderson – 0

Actually everyone assisted on all goals because it always starts somewhere. Great job by everyone.

Our game today was against W/A and even though we dominated the majority of the game we were not able to finish and win the game. They had a few break aways and they scored on them. We had lots of chances.

Cross Country Update

The Sun Sentinal announced today the All County XC selections. Despite not having a 1st or 2nd team winner, the Guys team epitomized the word TEAM. The finished as a top 5 team in the entire County, with no individual accolades other than 6 of them being noted as Honorable mention. May not have had the best 1 or 2, though we had the best 7!!!!

As for the game today, we played American Heritage and once again the girls played very well. The score was HEAT – 5 / American Heritage – 0
